Our story

From a home kitchen to Abu Dhabi.

Crane is a speciality coffee concept born from a passion for coffee’s timeless ability to gather people and create memorable moments.

It started small: a home business in 2018. Cup by cup, a loyal community grew around it, and Crane grew with them into cafés across Abu Dhabi.

The name comes from the crane, a bird that stands for peace, hope and love. We try to carry those values into every cup and every guest experience.

Since 2018 From a home business to a family of cafés.

The Japanese philosophy

One fold at a time.

In Japan, the paper crane, the orizuru, is folded from a single square of paper, with no cutting and no glue. Every fold depends on the one before it, so a crane can only be made slowly and with care.

An old tradition, senbazuru, says that whoever folds a thousand cranes is granted a wish. Over time the thousand cranes became a symbol of peace, hope and patience.

That is how we try to work: one cup, one plate, one guest at a time, nothing rushed and nothing wasted. Small, careful things, made to be shared.

What the crane stands for

  1. Peace

Calm spaces, soft light and room to slow down.

  2. Hope

A small business that grew because people believed in it.

  3. Love

Care in every cup, plate and welcome.

Our vision

To become Abu Dhabi’s most cherished speciality coffee destination, where every cup serves warmth, connection and purpose, and to spread a message of peace, hope and love through moments shared over exceptional coffee.

Our mission

To delight our guests daily with speciality coffee and fresh, thoughtfully prepared food in inviting, soulful spaces. We aim to create memorable experiences that foster community and inspire creativity, through impeccable service, ethical practices and heartfelt hospitality.

Our Liwa story

Liwa, from the very beginning.

Liwa has been part of Crane since the day we opened. Its dunes, date palms and warm, unhurried hospitality shaped the kind of café we wanted to be.

We keep going back with our coffee bar for Liwa's great gatherings, pouring for festival guests, families and old friends in the desert.
